Georgia Institute of Technology North Avenue Dining Hall

Atlanta, Georgia

This award-winning, LEED Gold certified project transformed the dining experience for those living on the East side of campus. This complex project was constructed on a tight urban site in the middle of downtown Atlanta and on the first floor of an active and occupied 10-story residence hall. Juneau expanded and renovated the existing space into an all-you-can-eat style dining hall with a 20,000 square foot addition with indoor and outdoor dining options for over 400 visitors. Incorporated into this building is a green roof where many of the foods used in the dining hall are grown, promoting sustainability and the “farm-to-table” dining concept, a first on Georgia Tech’s campus.

One of the greatest challenges of our dining hall project has been managing construction activities on a tight urban site that wraps around and extends under a fully occupied dormitory. Juneau’s team worked with multiple departments on campus to carefully plan, coordinate, and schedule this work, ensuring the safety of our students and minimizing occupant disruptions. This has been a seamless process resulting in minimal complaints.
