Juneau Establishes New University of Georgia Professorship
We are thrilled to announce that Stephan Durham, professor and assistant dean for student success and outreach, has been appointed as the inaugural holder of the Juneau Construction Company Professorship in Civil Engineering. This newly-established professorship, funded by our CEO Nancy and President Les Juneau, aims to support a distinguished professor in civil engineering.
Professor Durham has been an invaluable member of UGA’s engineering faculty since 2012, where he joined as an associate professor and civil engineering program coordinator. His contributions were instrumental in developing the college’s undergraduate degree program in civil engineering.
“I am incredibly honored to be selected for the Juneau Construction Company Professorship,” said Durham. “I extend my deepest gratitude to Nancy and Les Juneau and promise to honor this professorship by continuing to support our students and college to the best of my abilities.”
We have always valued our partnership with the University of Georgia and are excited about this latest endeavor. Juneau is committed to the upward trajectory of the College of Engineering and to helping attract top-tier educators who will prepare students for success both academically and professionally.
“Professors can be role models who listen to the challenges students face and provide guidance to help them succeed in the classroom and prepare for their future,” said Nancy Juneau.
The Juneau Construction Company Professorship in Civil Engineering is the first professorship at the college specifically for civil engineering, marking a significant milestone.
“UGA Engineering’s reputation continues to grow each year,” added Les Juneau. “We have experienced first-hand the talent of its graduates, who will become even more impressive as they are mentored by outstanding professors like Dr. Stephan Durham.”
Our contribution, matched by the University of Georgia Foundation, has created a new endowment poised to have a lasting impact on the college.
“We are deeply grateful to Nancy and Les for their continued and generous support of our college and the establishment of this professorship,” said Don Leo, dean of the College of Engineering. “Dr. Durham’s dedication to the civil engineering program makes him truly deserving of this recognition.”
We look forward to seeing the tremendous impact of this professorship on the future of civil engineering education at UGA.
