Core Spaces Begins Construction of Hub Atlanta

This Latest Addition to Core Spaces’ Roster Continues its Legacy of Building Quality, Experiential Living Accommodations in Top College Markets

ATLANTA, GA – Hub Atlanta, the much-anticipated student housing high-rise building in Midtown, recently broke ground at 960 Spring St. This is where Juneau Construction Company, one of the nation’s leading student housing builders, will bring to life what promises to be the most sought-after, off-campus housing option for students at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Hub Atlanta by Core Spaces will provide housing for almost 800 students beginning in the summer of 2023. This new development will be a short walk from the Midtown MARTA station to connect residents to the Atlanta area.

Location is everything in real estate, especially in student housing. And while Hub Atlanta’s location in the heart of Midtown will make for a relaxing, enjoyable living space in the middle of a vibrant city for future student residents, this hot spot will not be without construction complexities.

“Logistics in a metropolitan area will be a big challenge, but Juneau has always delivered on-time and on-budget projects, even when faced with various challenges,” Michelle Baldwin, Senior Project Manager for Juneau Construction Company, said. “We look ahead—far enough in advance—to see and anticipate what’s coming to be proactive, rather than reactive.”

Baldwin said Hub Atlanta’s footprint is “basically” curb-to-curb, so there is no laydown area on site to store materials.   “Coordinating deliveries to minimize the impact to the surrounding residents, as well as vehicular and pedestrian traffic, will be extremely important,” she added.

Hub Atlanta residents will have access to four-stories of garage parking with bicycle parking and electric vehicle charging stations included. Residents will be able to choose from quiet studios or up to six-bedroom units. . Standing 19-stories tall, Hub Atlanta will have 5,600 square-feet of ground-level retail space along Spring Street. Residents will have a lush amenity package, including a fitness center, study lounge, co-working space, pool deck with a hot tub, library, and dog run and wash area.

“We are excited to be a positive addition to the Midtown area” Rodney J. King, Core Spaces Managing Director of Acquisitions, said. “Our hospitality-driven offerings of authentic and elevated experiences are well-positioned for success in the Atlanta market.”

Hub Atlanta follows other such communities developed around the country by Core Spaces, which has offices in Chicago and Austin. Core Spaces has also developed Hub on Campus communities—their flagship brand offering, best-in-class student housing—in Gainesville, Tampa, Tucson, Los Angeles and Lexington, among other cities.

Baldwin, who has built more than 5,000 beds of student housing while at Juneau, said Juneau and its partners are thrilled to build this significant student housing project in the heart of the city, coordinating logistics, managing the project schedule and controlling for a volatile construction market for their clients as much as possible.

“Our entire project team, which includes Core Spaces and Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, is very excited to be a part of this amazing high-rise project,” she said. “Student housing is Juneau’s bread and butter. That’s what we’ve built our reputation on being on time, on or under budget. Working adjacent to I-75, with that Juneau Construction Company sign high above on our cranes lit up for all of Atlanta to see, is a big job to carry, but we have a talented team that is up for the challenge.”
