University of Alabama’s North Campus was expanded with this new student center. This award-winning building is equipped with 2 indoor basketball courts, an indoor soccer/hockey field, locker rooms, workout space, group classrooms, climbing wall, bomb shelter, office space, conference rooms, and lobby. Additional program space includes academic offices and meeting rooms for the University’s Parent Programming, Housing & Residential Communities, and Recreation departments. The student center is the focal point for interaction among students, student-athletes and faculty/staff. This state-of-the-art facility is also where the UA rowing team calls home with coaches offices, athletic training rooms, and multiple classrooms. Focusing on sustainability, the facility’s large central skylight provides the primary light source during the day. Furthermore, there is an advanced security/alarm system, including security cameras designed for specified alerts visible throughout the entire student center in case of emergencies.
