Commitment to Diversity

Diverse & Inclusive Working Environment

Juneau’s commitment to diversity began when we opened our doors over 27 years ago as a woman-owned construction company in a primarily male-dominated industry. Since then, we have grown to be ranked #2 on Atlanta Business Chronicles’ Top Women Owned Firms list. We did this by holding true to our passion for making the communities we build in flourish and developing a strong and diverse team around us. At Juneau, we are raising the bar on equity and inclusivity, putting it at the forefront of everything we do. Our culture is one in which we promote open dialogue, candid conversations and a mutual respect for one another and our authentic selves. This starts with where we recruit from. Juneau not only partners with historically black colleges and universities to attract the best and brightest talent, but we also understand that not everyone is afforded the same opportunities when it comes to higher education. Our goal is to educate our youth about the opportunities that lie in our industry, whether they have the ability to go to college or not. Therefore, we are committed to actively engaging with students ranging from K-12 in our communities. We recognize every single person comes from a different background and we are here to support and offer opportunities to those entering the industry and ultimately give them a path to career success.

Our Tampa office visited a local elementary school to do a concrete lab with students and expose them to all the construction industry has to offer.

Minority & Disadvantaged Trade Partner Alignment

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion doesn’t stop with our employees but extends into the larger construction industry. We have a full-time, dedicated Community Engagement Manager whose sole focus is fostering relationships with minority, disadvantaged, and woman and veteran-owned businesses (MWDBE). Throughout the year, we host a variety of events tailored to MWDBE firms. Whether its our Cultivate educational series or open houses, our goal is to inform, educate and inspire these trade partners while providing them with a path to partnering with Juneau on small and large-scale construction projects. We are also active members in organizations such as the National Association for Minority Contractors (NAMC) and Georgia Hispanic Construction Association (GHCA). These organizations aim to promote and facilitate trade partner opportunities with local general contractors. In fact, we were named “General Contractor of the Year” by GHCA in 2023 for our commitment to the Hispanic construction community in Georgia. These combined efforts have led to significant minority participation on The National Center for Civil and Human Rights (NCCHR) Expansion project in downtown Atlanta, where 38% of the trade partners utilized on this project are a minority, disadvantaged or woman-owned firm.

National Center for Civil and Human Rights Expansion & Renovation Project

Juneau’s involvement in The National Center for Civil and Human Rights expansion exemplifies how a general contractor’s and a client’s core values can perfectly align with our passion for community transformation and change. This project represents more than just a renovated and expanded space; it embodies the significance of what these spaces stand for. Juneau is proud to support and enhance The Center’s mission to: “educate and inspire people, to promote and protect rights, and to serve as a hub for broad conversations and engagement about protecting human dignity through rights. Providing opportunities to reflect, be inspired, and become agents of transformation and change, The NCCHR inspires people to tap into their own power to change the world around them.”
